- Inside the House
I just put up two of these in my front yard. The finer yarn for these chair hammocks feels luxurious and extra soft. I also have a cotton rope hammock for comparison. The trade off with the softer, finer threads is that they are less sturdy. I have two broken threads on one chair after two days of use.
I hung these from the wood bars of my previous hammock chairs. My bars are about three feet across. Yellow Leaf Hammocks recommends a 4 foot across and that would have been better.
DIY spreader bar with rope knots: There is a youtube video called "hanging hammock knots" by Captain Knots. 1. I started by using the second 'tree hugging' knot in the video to secure one bar end. 2. I pulled the two ends of the rope into the middle and made a Double Figure 8 Loop Knot 3. I pulled one rope end down to the second bar end and secured the bar. 4. Pulled the rope end back to the middle and secured the two ends in the middle with a modified hangman's noose knot over the Figure 8.
PS Yellow Leaf Hammocks has some awesome customer service if you have any issues.
