How To Hang A Hanging Chair Hammock

Hanging Styles For a Hanging Chair Hammock

There are three different styles for your Hanging Chair Hammock - (1) Swing Style without a Spread Bar, (2) Swing Style with a Spread Bar, and (3) Pivot Style.

(1) Swing Style (no Spread Bar)

Hanging your hammock Swing Style allows you to rock back and forth, using your hammock as a cozy swing. When you hang your hammock this way, you will use two anchor points or a single sturdy tree branch.

(2) Swing Style (w/ Spread Bar)

Hanging your hammock Swing Style with a Spread Bar allows you to rock back and forth. It also helps you to hang your hammock in a smaller space (because the optimal distance between your anchor points is less than without a Spread Bar).

(3) Pivot Style (w/ Spread Bar)

Hanging your hammock Pivot Style with a Spread Bar allows you to rotate 360 degrees and drift gently while you relax. When you hang your hammock this way you will only need one anchor point.

Hanging Techniques For a Hanging Chair Hammock

Now that you’ve selected your hanging style, it’s time to take a closer look at hanging techniques. Each of the techniques shown below works with all three hanging styles.

Inside Your Home

Hanging Techniques For A Classic or King-Size Hammock

First, you’ll want to scout out your location and decide which of the techniques below best fits your environment. Keep in mind these are just the most simple hanging techniques - not the ONLY ones - and you can always extend your hammock’s reach with longer ropes!

Inside Your Home

To hang a hammock indoors, drill two hooks into a ceiling or wall beam. Use a rope or carabiner to link each hook with the eyes of the hammock.

Between Two Trees

Wrap a rope securely around each tree trunk and attach the ropes to the eyes of the hammock (using a knot or carabiner).

From An Overhead Beam On Your Patio or Deck

By wrapping two ropes securely around the beams or posts and attaching the ropes to the eyes of the hammock (using a knot or carabiner).

A Hybrid Approach

You can also use a combination of structures to hang a hammock- for instance, a porch post and a tree. Secure a rope to the porch by drilling a hook or wrapping it around. Secure the other rope to the tree. Make sure the two sides are hung evenly!

Bonus! Hammock Stand Compatible

Our hammocks are compatible with most hammock stands on the market- if you are considering a hammock stand, double check our hanging specs (below) with the stand manufacturers' recommendations.
