SPARKING A HAMMOCKING REVOLUTION - HOW “DO GOOD. RELAX.” WAS BORN - PART 2
CONTINUED FROM PART I
CONTINUED FROM PART I
While I sat in the Ban Boonyuen Village, I pondered the idea that was taking hold in my mind. After meeting these weavers and sharing their stories, I was starting to realize that I wanted to do more than just bring home a few hammocks and call it a day.
That yarn turns into a hammock!
It seemed ironic to me that the best, most relaxing hammocks in the world were being created by people who had endured such a tough, back-breaking life. Back in America, the newspapers were stocked with tales of the recession era- worker productivity was soaring, charitable donations were drying up and stress levels were through the roof. (I later learned that 75% of illness in America is stress-related. No surprise there!)
I knew that if I could just share the story in the right way, Americans could feel the same emotional connection to these hammocks and these people that I did. They could break through the nonstop whirlwind of everyday life and enjoy ten minutes of peace each day. And in true American fashion, their hammocking would actually be multi-tasking, since they would be helping to achieve positive social change. This was where “Do Good. Relax.” was born— when our customers kick back in a hammock, they are helping to eradicate poverty and environmental devastation within the communities we partner with!
With that, I invite you to JOIN ME in the Hammocking Revolution. Shop our hammocks, spread our story, and let us know what “Do Good. Relax.” means to you!
